Cupertino, CA, Jan 8, 2025 – On the morning of January 4, 2025, The 23rd China Changchun Jingyuetan Vasaloppet International Skiing Festival  kicked off at Jingyuetan National Scenic Area in Changchun, Jilin province. As one of the world’s oldest and largest long-distance cross-country skiing events, this competition attracted over 2,000 professional athletes and enthusiasts from 33 countries, reaching the highest participation scale in its history. Since its establishment in Changchun in 2003, the Vasaloppet International Skiing Festival has grown into a winter sports event with significant international influence, holding an important position in global ice and snow sports.

As the official live broadcast partner for this event, Changchun Radio and Television Station once again chose TVU’s professional technical solutions for comprehensive live coverage. This marks the tenth consecutive year that TVU has provided technical support for Changchun TV’s broadcast of the Vasaloppet Skiing Festival, and this deepening partnership fully demonstrates the professionalism and reliability of TVU’s solutions, earning long-term trust and recognition.

During the broadcast preparation phase, the production team carefully deployed multiple TVU One backpacks, used for building primary and backup signal transmission systems between the on-site broadcast van and the main control center, while ensuring high-quality live reporting from reporters at key points and important locations along the race track. To further enhance broadcast quality, the convergence media broadcast van was specially equipped with a TVU Nano Router, providing powerful and stable network support for the on-site team’s real-time production.

During the broadcast, the TVU One backpack, with its proprietary Inverse StatMux Plus (IS+) transmission technology, combined with advanced HEVC format intelligent VBR encoding and FEC forward error correction video processing technology, successfully overcame various challenges posed by the forest track environment, ensuring high-quality collection and transmission of fixed camera positions and drone aerial footage. Meanwhile, the TVU Nano Router provided a highly stable network platform of approximately 200Mbps by simultaneously aggregating up to 6 network connections, including three 5G links, WiFi, external data cards, and wired networks.

Notably, in extreme cold conditions of minus 20-30 degrees Celsius, TVU One achieved nearly two hours of continuous stable power supply through its unique structural design and advanced electrical system, cleverly utilizing the heat dissipation airflow generated by internal components to create a suitable temperature environment for the built-in battery operation. This innovative design ensured high-quality reliable transmission of outdoor broadcast signals in severe cold weather, demonstrating the equipment’s excellent performance.

Ultimately, this spectacular broadcast was simulcast on Changchun Radio and Television Station’s comprehensive channel and culture-tourism-sports channel, with synchronous rebroadcasting on over 20 new media platforms including Douyin, Kuaishou, and Weibo. More than 100 mainstream national media outlets, including CCTV.com, Xinhuanet, People’s Daily Online, China News Service, and Phoenix Net, subsequently joined the broadcasting lineup. Through multi-camera, multi-angle comprehensive presentation, connecting online and offline, audiences nationwide could deeply experience the unique charm of ice and snow sports in the northern ice city of Changchun through the lens, appreciating the vibrant winter vitality of this city.

Liu Guoqing, Director of the Broadcasting Department at Changchun TV who participated in the on-site production, commented: “Over the past twenty-plus years, we have personally experienced the tremendous transformation in broadcasting technology. From initially needing to set up complex transmission links to now using TVU’s portable equipment, broadcasting work efficiency has improved several times over. Especially under such extremely cold weather conditions, equipment stability is particularly important, and TVU’s excellent performance truly gives us great peace of mind.”
