March 31, 2025—Mountain View, CA — TVU Networks, a global leader in cloud and IP-based live video solutions, successfully deployed its state-of-the-art broadcast technology to power comprehensive live coverage of the Jiujiang Bank 2025 “Lushan Cup” Jiujiang Marathon. The prestigious event, which took place on March 23, attracted nearly 20,000 participants from around the world who competed along a picturesque 42.195-kilometer course that stretched from the Yangtze River to Mount Lushan, connecting four urban districts while showcasing Jiujiang’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.

Comprehensive Technical Solution

Building on previous successful collaborations, TVU Networks partnered with Jiujiang Media Center to design and implement a robust broadcast infrastructure capable of capturing the marathon’s full scope and energy. The media operation involved over 100 professionals, eight aerial drones, and 23 ground-based cameras strategically positioned to deliver dynamic, multi-angle coverage.

The live broadcast reached an audience of more than 11 million viewers across various platforms, including the Palm Jiujiang and Cloud Jiujiang applications, alongside nearly 100 media outlets throughout China and internationally.

“Events of this scale present unique broadcasting challenges that require innovative technical solutions,” said Michael Ma, General Manager of TVU Networks China. “Our technology enabled the Jiujiang Media Center to create an exceptionally immersive viewing experience while significantly reducing the operational complexity traditionally associated with marathon coverage.”

Advanced Technology Deployment

At the core of the solution were multiple TVU One portable transmitters deployed at strategic locations throughout the marathon route. These versatile units enabled real-time video signal transmission from diverse vantage points, including:

  • Mobile camera crews following elite athletes
  • Aerial drone platforms capturing spectacular panoramic views
  • Fixed camera positions at start/finish lines
  • Key cultural landmarks along the scenic route

The TVU One backpacks leveraged two proprietary technologies that proved essential in the challenging broadcast environment:

  • Inverse StatMux Plus (IS+): This advanced technology intelligently aggregates multiple network connections (4G/5G/Wi-Fi) to create a robust, stable transmission channel for high-quality video and audio signals.
  • HEVC Intelligent VBR Encoding: This sophisticated encoding system delivers exceptional visual quality even in bandwidth-constrained environments, ensuring consistent broadcast quality throughout the event.

These technologies enabled the TVU One units to maintain reliable, low-latency signal transmission despite challenging conditions, including densely crowded areas at the start/finish lines and regions with complex network infrastructure.

Enhanced Production Capabilities

The TVU solution allowed high-definition signals from multiple locations to be transmitted in real-time to Jiujiang Media Center’s production studio. This technical foundation provided directors with a diverse array of footage options for crafting a dynamic broadcast that seamlessly transitioned between intimate athlete perspectives and breathtaking views of Jiujiang’s iconic landmarks.

“The exceptional stability of the TVU system enabled our production team to execute sophisticated multi-camera workflows with complete confidence,” said Lin Wei, Technical Director at Jiujiang Media Center. “The result was a viewing experience that rivaled broadcasts of world-class marathons while showcasing our city’s unique character to millions of viewers.”

Strategic Impact

Beyond the technical achievements, TVU’s solution delivered significant strategic benefits. The broadcast quality matched those of platinum-label marathons, positioning Jiujiang as a premier sporting destination, while the streamlined production approach substantially reduced operational expenses compared to traditional broadcast methods. Additionally, the polished coverage effectively showcased Jiujiang’s vibrant cityscape and cultural landmarks to millions across China and internationally, strengthening its profile as a desirable tourism and investment destination.

As the spring marathon season continues globally, TVU Networks remains committed to supporting media organizations with efficient, reliable live streaming solutions that highlight both athletic achievement and host cities’ distinctive appeal, transforming live event broadcasting while enabling cities like Jiujiang to captivate audiences worldwide.
